What are nature markets?
Nature markets are new economies that put a real, payable value on restoring and protecting nature, from biodiversity and carbon to water and soil. With the limited time we have to solve our nature crisis, they are some of the most promising mechanisms we have.
But they are still emergent. The structures that will make them functional, credible and valuable are being built right now, and getting them right is the difference between genuine ecological regeneration and repeating the mistakes of earlier markets. That's the work we're here to do.

We don't take every brief.
We don't take every brief and we don't work on projects that exist primarily to enhance reputation. We do not promise outcomes that depend on science, policy or markets dynamics that are not yet ready.
We rigorously vet projects to ensure they will not create risk for land stewards or knowledge holders, or create new forms of exploitation under the guise of nature markets.
Old Wisdom
As the foundation, not the add-on.
Traditional knowledge holders have practised sophisticated, regenerative frameworks for managing nature for thousands of years. We work to incorporate these frameworks in partnership with and with respect for the people who hold them.
We hold ourselves to account by looking beyond hype cycles to evidence of fundamental value.

We use new technologies such as AI across research, design and engineering because it lets our contributors move faster and go deeper — never for its own sake, and always behind a baseline of guardrails plus bespoke measures per project.

We believe building a safe, functioning nature market is the most important mission of our lifetime — and that it will take a village of our best thinkers, doers, builders and creators contributing to its formation.
Founded in 2026 by Ella Gordon-Latty, Available Light is a contributor studio: an format holding a group of expert contributors— in nature and carbon markets, ecology, engineering, environmental science, indigenous land management, impact measurement, finance and policy — available to be drawn into engagements in whatever shape the work needs.
It is deliberately held to serve entities who are engaged in shaping nature markets and building the foundations- whether public or private, big or small, global or local.
