Facing the sixth mass extinction due to our treament so far, we have a rapidly closing window of opportunity to change our approach.

Our Mission
Creating a market where nature's true value is realised and paid for is the most efficient way to incentivise the reverse of biodiversity loss and climate change.
There's an explosion of entities active in the nature space, and rapidly evolving tech is pushing the limits of what's possible in measuring and assetising natures value. While exciting, this creates a real risk of replicating extractive business models, and presents new, unknown risks posed by giving tech unrestricted access to nature's data.
We believe building a safe, functioning nature marketthis is the most important mission of our lifetime. And we need to rally our best thinkers, doers, builders and creators around it.

About Us
Kickstarted in 2026 by founding contributor Ella Gordon-Latty, Available Light is a way of connecting people and entities around the nature markets mission.
A contributor studio is an experimental new format that can better provide for the needs of contributors and entities seeking contribution.
The studio houses a network of contributors — experts in nature and carbon markets, ecology, engineering, environmental science, indigenous land management, impact measurement, finance, and policy — available to be drawn into engagements.
It is deliberately held to service entities who have the will to shape nature markets to function for the benefit of everyone.

Our Approach
Honest
Contribution
We don't take every brief and we don't work on projects that exist primarily to enhance reputation. We do not promise outcomes that depend on science or markets that are not yet ready.
We rigorously vet projects to ensure they will not create risk for land stewards or knowledge holders, or create new forms of exploitation under the guise of nature markets.
We have a duty to educate well intentioned entities on the risks of the above and include this in our practice of honest contribution in every engagement.
Old Wisdom
The basic premise underlying nature markets, that nature has intrinsic value that our lives depend on, is old wisdom.
Traditional knowledge holders across the world have held and practised sophisticated frameworks for managing natural systems regeneratively across thousands of years that have proven their resilience over timescales that modern economic frameworks cannot achieve.
As the nature markets emerge, the participation of these knowledge holders is not a matter of equity to be added on. It is the foundation to build from. Modern science must be layered in, and the governance of natural assets must be grounded in aknowledgement of this.
We work to incorporate these frameworks in partnership with, and with respect for, the people who hold them.
New Technology
New technology is not a magic wand. It is a force multiplier, and like all force multipliers, it can amplifies both good and bad application.
We use the current generation of tools such as AI across research, design, and engineering, because they allow our contributors to move faster, go deeper, and deliver more rigorous work than would otherwise be possible. But we are not in the business of technology for its own sake. We use a baseline of guardrails plus bespoke measures per project.
The tools are always in service of the mission.
